Affordable Costumes You Can Make with Items from Target
2020 is a weird year. We all know that. But just because social distancing is in place doesn’t mean that it should stop you from dressing up and living your best spooky life! Halloween is one of my FAVORITE holidays. I literally love dressing up and being something new each event I go to. This year will probably be a little different, but most years every party or event I go to I dress up for something different. I have NEVER bought a costume in my whole 25 years on this earth. Each year, I make my costumes which are super unique to me.
If you’re not trying to drop a lot of cash monay on a costume, but still want to dress up, here are some affordable options that you can be for halloween using items you may have at home, or can buy from Target (and re-use more than just for Halloween)
#1 Rosie The Riveter
WE CAN DO IT! Looking for a SUPER EASY last-minute costume? This is it! Every girl has combat boots and some type of denim in their wardrobe. Really all you need is a red bandana and you are done! I was Rosie a few years back when I took an impromptu trip to Madison to party in at my friend’s college town. You can totally customize this costume to you, but still easily get the point across. #2 Wednesday Addams
How many Wednesday Addams do you see every Halloween? The limit does not exist. Black, black, black is all you need for this easy DIY costume. I’m even thinking about doing it myself if a last minute plan pops up! Every girl has a little black dress in their closet. To really get the point across, add a belt across the waist, a couple of braids, and you’re basically Wednesday! If you wanted to buy a white collar piece you could, or make one out of an old t-shirt OR use a white button up under your dress to expose the white collar. The options are endless! It’s 2020. If you don’t already have leather leggings in your wardrobe… YOU BETTER SHAPE UP! ;) In honor of Grease hitting Netflix this year, Sandy’s ICONIC look is SUPER easy to make at home with items you may already have in your closet! Target sells the CUTEST bright red shoes and with all the sales coming up snagging a pair wouldn’t hurt for not only this look, but for everyday wear! #4 Dora The Explorer
Do-do-do-do-Dora! Have kids who LOVE Dora the Explorer? Or just a fan yourself? Trying to bring out your inner kid? This is the perfect easy costume! Target sells basically everything you need for this look, which is super adorable to wear any other time even after halloween. The iconic Wild Fable biker shorts come in MANY colors and are super comfy to wear in the warmer months. You could even make this a group costume with your kids, or even friends! #5 Risky Business
Easiest costume in the world…check. Most iconic costume ever…check! We all know and love this scene from Risky Business. We all also know a man who wears white button up shirts that we can steal from. Literally all you need to achieve this look is an oversized button up (hello, husband. Hello BF, or hello, Goodwill) and a pair of long socks! If I were to go to a party, I would also grab a pair of white slides just because I wouldn’t want to get the socks super dirty. Or if you wanted to put the socks OVER a pair of flip flops you could even do that as well, I would recommend just sizing up 1 or 2 sizes in socks. Shop this look here.
#6 Flashdance Dancer
YOU BETTER, WERK!! Everyone knows the iconic look of the 80’s dancers/exercise videos. Bodysuits over leggings? Done and done! I actually did this costume not too long ago and the only thing I purchased myself is the Neon leggings. You could honestly do this look with any color scheme you want/already have.
