Affordable Ways to Spruce Up Your Space

As you know, I recently moved to a new apartment back in May. Coming from studio-apartment life, a one bedroom can feel like an absolute castle.

Over the past few months I’ve been working hard to make this space my own. I had minimal furniture in my old place so I’ve been trying to work with what I have and add affordable options. I love love love decorating spaces! It’s so fun to see everything come together. I am a total homebody, so it has ALWAYS been important to me to have a place that is comfortable and gives off good vibes, especially right now since we’re still spending a lot of time at home still. I’ve recently become obsessed with the boho look. Neutral tones have always been my style. So I already have a lot of gray, and tan/off-white things. I didn’t want to drastically change everything I own, so I came up with a few ways to redecorate for less!

Check out my tree tips for redecorating your space for less!

#1 DIY

I love to craft. It’s one of my favorite things to do. I love being creative and making something super unique no one else has. It’s fun to look at pieces and create something amazing out of them. Check out the projects I made for under $10 a piece!

  • I wish I could take credit for this project, but I can’t! I came across Justin Wray (@justinwray on Instagram) on Youtube and DIED when I saw this. I’ve wanted pampas grass forever, and they can retail from $45+ for a good quality grass. These turned out so cute and match perfectly with the decor in my room! You can make your own and watch the full tutorial here. Be sure to give Justin a follow as well, he’s amazing!

#2 Accent pieces

Sometimes you may think you need to redo an entire area if your taste/style drastically changes. You’d be surprised how easy it is to change up your style just by adding an accent piece here and there. I love a good accent piece! They are the perfect “finishing touches” to a space! My favorite places to look for accent pieces are TJ Maxx, Homegoods, Marshalls, Target, and more recently, Goodwill! You can find some fun things for super cheap if you look hard enough.

#3 Reuse, reuse, reuse

I am ALWAYS down to reuse something that I already own to avoid buying something new. If it’s in good condition and nothing is wrong with it, why not continue using it?! I have A LOT of pillows, between my couch and bedroom I have over 18+. I had so many pillows of multiple colors that they all looked horrible together. Instead of donating or selling them I went on Amazon and found a TON of pillow covers of multiple sizes to re-cover the pillows I already had. Most covers come with a “secret zipper” and if you order the right sizes you’d hardly be able to to tell it was a cover or not.

Almost 90% of my pillows were re-used and re-covered! You can shop all the covers I got at the end of this post!
